NOTES FROM THE PRODUCERS The Concord Players has long drawn its members and its audience from a wide geographical area of which Concord is the core. The “Our Town” production, however, is unique. This show will not only be part of the Player’s archives but will have a significant part in the archives of the town as well. We have tried to involve as many Concord citizens as possible as cast, production crew and audience so that this is truly a birthday party for ourselves. If you are a Concord citizen you will recognize many faces in the auditorium and read many familiar names in the program. Several of these people however, have never attended or been a part of a Concord Player’s production before. It is also unusual to have so many former presidents of the Concord Players involved in mounting one of our productions. TO THE 350th CELEBRANTS It is a pleasure to bring you The Concord Players, Inc. gift to the town of Concord. “Our Town” is a particularly good choice for such an occasion. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with our organization, we are one of the oldest community theatres in the country with roots back to 1857 when “The Alcott Players” resided in the in the Alcott barn on Lexington Road. Over the years, The Players have been well known for the professional quality of their productions as attested to by the fact that we have won the coveted Moss Hart Award twice and the New England Theatre Conference competition five times, making us the recipient of this trophy more often than any other community theatre. We are proud of our contribution to the cultural enhancement of the community and welcome all of you to learn more about our organization by joining us as members and/or subscribers to our ‘85—’86 season. Subscription brochures and membership forms are available in the lobby. Jean English, President |
