George Funk
George and Bette first came to the Concord Players in the Spring of 1975 as members of the stage crew for The Music Man. They had just moved to Concord during Chrismas week 1974 and Tom Ruggles persuaded them to that endeavor as a way to become acquainted in the community. It worked and they have been active members ever since.
Both of them labored principally in the vineyard of production staff in set construction, set painting, graphics, front of house, etc. until being "promoted" into being Producers. The list of plays with which they were associated is too long for a short memory, but included Italian Straw Hat, Rashomon, Mornings at Seven, Broadway Bound, Tomfoolery, and (briefly) Stepping Out. Bette passed away in Oct. 1998, and this is George's first venture back with the Players. He is confining his efforts to producing, for the most part either with or for Patricia Till.
