Irving McDowell
(1976) Irving appears in this production of Music Man with great reluctance. Having two left feet and cleft tonsils, he neither dances nor sings (and some reject the idea that he can act.) He has attempted two musicals before: once in Concord as Col. Pickering in My Fair Lady and the other time in Arlington as Sir Studley in Once Upon a Mattress. Most of the time he is type-cast as a stodgy curmudgeion - in the Concord Players production of You Can't Take it With You as Mr. Kirby and now as River City's Mayor Shinn. He has also been Deacon Ball in The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail and Jack Haggerty in Hogans Goat, both for the Concord Players
Travelling and gardening are full—time occupations since his retirement in 1981.
