Synopsis: This coming-of-age comedy focuses on Eugene Morris Jerome, a teenager obsessed with baseball, girls, and writing (definitely not in that order) while living with his mother, father, and older brother in 1937 Brooklyn. Eugene's widowed aunt and her two daughters have come to live with the Jeromes, stretching their family resources and testing their relationships. And with fear and violence mounting in Europe, their family dynamics are about to change even more dramatically.

Character Descriptions

Concord Players is committed to diversity and inclusion. As such, we encourage performers of all races and ethnicities, gender identities, sexualities, and abilities to audition. We also recognize that these characters are written on the binary (use he/him or she/her pronouns) and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.

Please note: although the character ages listed below are the rather precise ones mentioned in the text, please take these as a guide to the relative ages of the characters, and an actor's ability to portray a character of that age, rather than an actor's actual age. For example, an actor wishing to play Stanley should be able to portray someone in their late teens, and should ideally read older than the actor playing Eugene.
