          disappointing note, Rik Pierce
          and Kerrie Miller have had
to cancel their "Act Up!" show due to lack of
interest. However, they will present a scene for the March Annual
Meeting.  A great idea for those
who have a talent that may go missed.  Oh well- maybe next year
guys!  Speaking of Rik Pierce, I want to thank him for holding
my hand through my "maiden voyage" of wiriting my very first
Newsletter.  Rik has been my guide through this whole process and
I couldn't have done it without him!  I have had the pleasure of
working with him and have talked with him a bit about life as an actor
in the Big Apple.  Rik got bitten by the theater bug a bit later
in life, but nevertheless, theater has always circled around him, since
that is how his parents met - at a NY Amateur Comedy Club.  "Little
Rik" couldn't imagine going on stage, trying to remember lines
and actually ENJOYING the process until he met a girl (oh boy...likely
story) in college who was known as "The Actress" on campus.
Needless to say, Rik toddled after her and despite himself, came to
LIKE IT!  Rik moved on to doing several very popular t.v. commercials,
such as "Hostess Donuts" (his first gig) and then on to a
series of "Hai Karate" commercials, which virtually made him
a recognized actor on the street.....much to the bewilderment of his
son!  Rik joined the Players in 1988 and since then has been a
dedicated volunteer, actor, director, web-site Guru, and Board Member.
So, my hat's off to Mr. Pierce for all his help......And also a huge
thanks to Claiborne Dawes for her guidance and for putting her confidence
in me.  I just hope I can live up to the style and comfortable
words she's graced us all for so long!   Any news,
