Love Letters
|
Lake Bobbitt
Lake has performed in Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Chicago, Maine and Greater Boston. Locally, he has played Mordechai in A Shayna Maidel and Tobias in A Delicate Balance. His first performance for the Concord Players was in 1950 when he played Mago, Hannibal's nephew, in Road to Rome. His favorite roles here include Sir Thomas More in A Man For All Seasons, Harry Kane in Pinter's The Collection, and Ben in Death of a Salesman. In 1983 he revived his role as Thor Swanson in Morning's At Seven for Concord's participation in the Dundalk, Ireland international theatre festival.
In Chicago, Lake taught drama and received a critic's Actor of the Year award for his performance as Brother Julian in Albee's Tiny Alice. Later, he taught and directed for ten years at the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Mass. For several years he has done adjudications and critiques for local community theatre productions.
Love Letters was Lake's last production for us. Lake died of cancer in the summer of 1997 and is sorely missed by all who knew him.
