Irony & Ambiguity and Passion & Coolness

Our third session will try to define Shakespeare's frequent use of irony and how to navigate its use and double meanings in playing Shakespeare. Then, we will wrestle with how to balance the emotional and intellectual in playing - how to make appropriate use of both passion and coolness.

The session will be primarily focused on scene study, with an opportunity for collaborative feedback and revision. A wide-range of scenes and monologues (some passionate ones, no doubt) will be sent out in advance to participants. Scenes that may be utilized include:
