Our second session will look at how Shakespeare's language provides clues to characterization and explore the situations in which the language truly defines the character. Then, we will discuss how to handle particularly "poetic" pieces of Shakespeare's drama, and where to be mindful of poetry that is not always obvious.
The session will be primarily focused on scene study, with an opportunity for collaborative feedback and revision. A wide-range of scenes and monologues will be sent out in advance to participants. Scenes that may be utilized include:
