NOTES FROM THE BOARD

  The Odd Couple closed on November 17 after a successful run that brought laughter and delight to our audiences – thanks to everybody who supported and enjoyed our first show of the season!

The Concord Players brought the spirit of the season to 51 Walden on December 6 with our annual Winter Welcome festivities – many thanks to all who participated!

  Our winter show, The Lion In Winter,  is in rehearsal. Performances will be on February 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23 at 8:00pm, and February 17 at 2:00pm. At their November meeting, the Board approved the purchase of new dimmer modules that will greatly enhance the artistic possibilities of 51 Walden’s stage lighting.

  Casting News:

  "Dorothy Parker Revived"

We’re looking for actors and directors interested in participating in an evening of Dorothy Parker's clever, funny, sometimes maudlin short stories (adapted into play form), her poetry ("Razors pain you; Rivers are damp; Acids stain you; And drugs cause cramp, Guns aren't lawful; Nooses give; Gas smells awful; You might as well live”), her smart, yet scathing book and theater reviews (in reference to a performance by Katherine Hepburn: "She ran the gamut of emotions from A to B") and her famous quips, e.g., "Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses". Auditions will be held at 51 Walden on January 13 (time TBA).  A script will be available for perusal at the Concord Public Library beginning in January.  Readings will be from the script, or come prepared to read one of your personal favorite Dorothy Parker pieces.  We will make every attempt to include everyone interested. "Dorothy Parker Revived" will be performed on February 24 at 7pm at 51 Walden. For more information, call (978) 369-2990.

Calling all singers! The Second Annual FOPAC Messiah Sing will be held at 51 Walden on Sunday, December 16 at 1:30 p.m. Kathy Booth is costuming Handel (aka Alan Yost) and the soloists, as well as Charlie Streff and Tom Ruggles, who will play the parts of  King George II and Bach. Bring a score if you have one, or there will be some available to borrow. Admission is $15, $10 for seniors and students.

  Mark your calendars if you'd like to audition for FOPAC's production of H.M.S. Pinafore next April 5 and 6. The auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 27 and Sunday, Feb. 3. This semi-staged concert performance is a collaboration of the resident groups at 51 Walden: the Concord Band, Concord Orchestra, and Concord Players, and proceeds will benefit the operation of the building. Those of you who sang in The Pirates of Penzance last year know how much fun it will be!

 The Concord Players production team for WEST SIDE STORY wants to get the word out that AUDITIONS will be January 16 & January 17 from 7:00 – 10:00 PM and January 20 from 1:30 – 4:30 PM, at The Fenn School, 516 Monument Street, Concord, MA. Callbacks will be January 20 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, also at The Fenn School.  Performances will be April 25, 26, 27 (matinee), May 2, 3, 4 (matinee), 8, 9, and 10. Ring in the New Year at 51 Walden!!  Dance to tunes performed by the live 16-piece big band Orion with vocalists Sarah Telford and Brad Amidon, enjoy hors d'oeuvres, and a champagne toast at midnight.
