The World’s A Stage Players, the Concord Players’ resident Shakespeare troupe, has presented their summer Shakespeare productions at the Concord Public Library since 2012 and recently produced their filmed staged reading of As You Like It in September 2020.
This spring the group is excited to present a new, COVID-safe endeavor as part of their mission to continue to explore Shakespeare’s work and share it with the Concord community:
Shakespeare Book Club
On every other Sunday evening throughout March, April, and May, the group will host Zoom meetings, open to the public, to explore Shakespeare’s epic collection of eight plays documenting eighty-five years of English history, including Richard II & III, Henry IV, V, VI and their various parts, frequently known as The Henriad. During the meetings, a member of the troupe will lead a discussion of each play covering the plot and themes, drawing connections to our current world, and speculating on potential stagings and adaptations. The presentations will also be colored by video presentation and live readings of select monologues and scenes from other members of the group. The community is invited to read the play ahead of time and come to the meeting to share their thoughts and opinions. The troupe is excited to expand their own knowledge of these plays and share these amazing works with fellow Shakespeare fans.
Here's our schedule of presentations (all meetings will be on Sunday evenings from 7-9 p.m.):
Everyone is invited to read the play ahead of time and come to the meeting to share their thoughts and opinions.
